Sometimes you have one of those days where you have a sudden change of plans. I have to admit, I am normally not great with sudden changes, but when you get invited to an evening of Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare with CEO Carrie Gross, you better clear your schedule! On the 30th of January I had the pleasure of learning all about the brand, a brand that is quite new to me as I had not tried their products, so I figured it would be the right thing to do to talk to you guys about Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare and share some information, so here we go.

Introducing Dr. Dennis Gross and Carrie Gross

Dr. Dennis Gross is a dermatologist and dermatologic surgeon and has over 25 years of experience in keeping skin healthy. Before becoming an dermatologist he was working as skin cancer researcher for which he is recognised worldwide. He met his wife Carrie when she moved to New York when she was working in the fashion industry. One of the things Carrie loves about when they met was that she could talk about makeup and skincare for hours. He would ask her what products she was using, would look at the ingredients and basically told Carrie that the products she was using were nothing special and wouldn't do much for her skin.

Carrie told us that in those days, all you could get was a moisturiser and she realised that there were no other products available that would help fight the signs of ageing. That's when Dr. Dennis Gross developed the famous Alpha Beta Peel in his clinic in New York. At the time the chemical peel treatment was only available at the clinic but when Carrie tried it she said:

"Why are we only offering it to people who are able to come to the clinic in New York? People will want and need to be able to use this peel at home." - CEO Carrie Gross about the Alpha Beta Peel.

And that is how Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare was born in 2002. A no-nonsense brand that bases its products on results backed by research. You will not find any trendy products here, just the stuff that actually works. Their aim: for everyone to see an improvement in their skin within 90 seconds. With the idea of continued results and benefits with prolonged use of the products.

The Alpha Beta Peel

The Alpha Beta Peel is a chemical peel that does not require any downtime and is suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin. It's a two-step treatment that instantly improves the skin's luminosity and over time reduces the appearance of pores and fine lines, and calms down redness. The first step contains a blend of 5 acids and has a low pH. The second step is an anti-ageing serum that has a high pH (basically the opposite of an acid) and is loaded with ingredients such as oatmeal to ensure you will not experience any irritation. For best results, use step 1, leave for two minutes before applying step 2. The Alpha Beta Peel is a two-step process because the acid helps get rid of any dead skin cells, whereas the serum creates the perfect balance afterwards. A balance, which according to Carrie, is the key to radiant skin.

Since the introduction of the Alpha Beta Peel, Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare has released the Alpha Beta Extra Strength Peel which contains a blend of 7 acids instead of 5, and the Alpha Beta Ultra Gentle Peel for more sensitive skin which contains a blend of 3 acids. The Alpha Beta Peel has become such a cult favourite and a true cornerstone of the brand, and rightfully so. Having an acid in your routine will allow any serums and moisturisers to be absorbed better by your skin. I could already feel the difference after just one treatment, my skin felt so soft!

New Launch: BAdaptive SuperFoods

Since the Alpha Beta Peel, many other skincare products have followed like the Alpa Beta Pore Perfecting Cleansing Gel, the Alpha Beta Pore Prefecting & Refining Serum and the Hyaluronic Marine Hydrating Modeling Mask. Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare have just released a new range which will be coming to the UK in March. The B₃Adaptive SuperFoods range is designed to "stress-proof your skin". It promises to significantly reduce the 5 signs of stress-induced ageing and consists of the following three products:

The serum contains Niacinamide (B₃), 10 superfoods and 10 adaptogens which are cold pressed and encapsulated in double wall lipid liposomes that help the ingredients penetrate deeper into the skin. It instantly calms down redness, reduces and helps prevent flare-ups, smoothes the skin and makes it look healthier.

The face cream contains Niacinamide (B₃), 14 superfoods and 10 adaptogens. The ingredients are again cold pressed and encapsulated, and the cream helps relieve dryness, strengthen the skin's moisture barrier, reduces the appearance of worry lines and protects the skin against stress.

The eye cream contains Niacinamide (B₃), 6 superfoods and 7 adaptogens that are cold pressed and encapsulated in double wall lipid liposomes. The eye cream battles dark circles and puffiness, firms the surface around the eyes, and leaves the skin looking well rested.

During my evening at Selfridges I have been fortunate enough to try the Stress Rescue Super Serum and the Stress SOS Eye Cream. I had a rosacea flare up that night and my skin was quite red. The serum instantly calmed my skin down and felt so nice and almost cooling on my skin. The eye cream had a lovely light, almost gel like feel to it and did not feel heavy or greasy at all. Both were absorbed by my skin in no-time and my skin felt great afterwards. These are just some first impressions for you. I will definitely be going back to get the full set as soon as it is released in March, because on paper, this is THE range for me! More to follow very soon.

Finally: Carrie's Top Tip

Dr_Dennis_Gross_Skincare_Products

One final thing Carrie said that I want to mention before I end this blog post is: don't be afraid to use a magnifying mirror! Carrie believes in magnifying mirrors because they allow you to have that really close relationship with your skin (quite literally!). This makes you able to really see which products that you are using are actually working. So sit there and take the time to really examine those pores rather than making your skincare routine something rushed.

Just a bit of food for thought. I hope you have found this blog post a useful introduction into the brand. I have been gifted some products which I will be using over the next month, after which I will post a new post with an update.

A big thank you to Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare and Selfridges for organising and inviting me to the event. I had a great time learning about the brand and can't wait to see more in the future.

In the meantime thank you so much for reading!
