Juno & Co Clean 10 Cleansing Balm Review

**Disclaimer: This post is part of a paid advertisement. All opinions are my own**

Let’s talk cleansing balms. It’s the first step in my evening routine and my favourite one. That feeling of the balm melting on my face, dissolving all the makeup and grime that has built up during the day, I love it! I always have a few balms on the go and a new one that I’ve recently put to the test is the Juno & Co Clean 10 Cleansing Balm. In this post, I am discussing the balm itself, what it promises and how it performed.

What is the Clean 10 Balm: Ingredients and what it promises

The Clean 10 Cleansing Balm is an oil-based balm that contains 10 ingredients. It’s suitable for all skin types and promises to “effortlessly dissolve makeup, even waterproof makeup“. The main ingredient is Japanese Barley Magic, an ingredient rich in antioxidants and vitamins, and is meant to brighten the skin tone as well as reducing dark spots.

Full ingredients list:
Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, PEG-20 Glyceryl Triisostearate, Synthetic Wax, Polysorbate 85, Saccharomyces/Coix Lacryma-Jobi Ma-Yuen Seed Ferment Filtrate, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate, Water, Butylene Glycol

According to the Juno & Co website, results show that:

- 98% agreed that Clean 10 leaves the skin feeling clean and smooth without a greasy feel.
- 95% agreed that Clean 10 removes waterproof makeup and sunscreen effectively.
- 91% agreed that Clean 10 leaves the skin moisturised and brighter.
- 89% agreed that Clean 10 refined skin texture after two weeks of use.

It should be noted though that it is unclear how many people were part of this study, so at the moment these percentages don’t tell me much.

My thoughts on Clean 10

Ingredients

For me personally, the length of the ingredients list does not necessarily determine whether a product is good or not. It depends on what the ingredients  are and ultimately the main thing for me is how the product performs on my skin.

One thing I will say is that the ingredients list of the Clean 10 Cleansing Balm does not contain any preservatives. Preservatives help stabilise the shelf life of a product, prevent it from going off quickly and prevent bacterial growth and contamination of the product, something that can easily happen with products that contain water.

Texture and fragrance

The texture of the balm is everything I would expect it to be. It is slightly softer than other cleansing balms I’ve tried. The buttery texture melts to a beautiful oil once applied to the face. It has a slight citrus scent, but nothing too overpowering. The fragrance comes from the Orange Peel Oil which is an essential oil. This is something to bear in mind if essential oils are not for you.

Performance

So does the Clean 10 Cleansing Balm live up to it’s promise? In short, yes. It removes makeup and SPF effortlessly, even the most stubborn waterproof mascara is no match for this balm. What I also love is that I can use the balm on my sensitive eyes. Fragranced cleansing balms often sting and feel uncomfortable but this one does not do that at all. Overall it's very pleasant to use.

After washing off the balm, my skin is left feeling clean, soft and nourished without leaving a greasy layer. I have not specifically noticed any change in the brightness or texture of my skin during the four weeks I have used Clean 10, however I rarely have textured skin so that does not necessarily mean that the balm does not reduce texture.

Would I repurchase?

No, I would not repurchase. Although I love the texture of the balm, how it performs and the affordability (currently on offer for £8 per 85g), the fact that Clean 10 does not contain any preservatives is an issue for me and raises concerns about the possibility of contamination which is not something I want to risk when putting it on my face. Based on that, I would not repurchase.
