Getting Your Red on With Bourjois Paris Rouge Velvet

Happy Christmas Eve! I can't believe it's here already. The years seem to fly by. With Christmas there are really only 4 colours in my book: green, red, gold and silver. I love that warm glow the Christmas tree is giving and the cosy evening spent with family and loved ones. But this year I didn't want that to get in the way of putting out a blog post so here we go, one more before Christmas really kicks off tomorrow. To get you even further into that Christmas mood, this post is all about red. And what's better than a good red lippie? Well I say that, but apart from ballet performances when I was younger where I was forced to wear red lipstick, I am only just starting to get used to pulling out the red every once in a while. To get me going, Influenster sent me three gorgeous Bourjois Paris lipsticks to review.

REVIEW: CND Vinylux Weekly Polish and Top Coat

CND_Vinylux_Weekly_Polish_set

I can't believe it's only a couple of days until Christmas, and to be very honest I have been a terrible blogger as I haven't posted once so far this month! Time to change that! This post is all about that part of beauty I often forget to write about: nail polish. I have been testing the CND Vinylux Weekly Polish* with the Weekly Top Coat, a chip resistant nail polish that is meant to last 7 days on average. At least, that what it says on the label. How did it really perform? Does it live up to the expectations?

Top 10 Must-Have Items On Your John Lewis Christmas Wishlist

Like so many people, I love preparing for Christmas around this time of year, and what better way to do this than with a good Christmas wishlist?! This year I decided to devote my wishlist to John Lewis and the invitation to the Brum Bloggers John Lewis Christmas Event a few weeks ago was the perfect way to prepare. John Lewis offer a great variety of amazing gifts but as I can't possibly begin to list all of them, I have selected my top 10 for you! I must note that this list will be more aimed at beauty (I am a beauty blogger after all!) but I have added some other bits to add some variety to the mix.

My Full Face of Technic Cosmetics: Bargain or Not Worth It?

When I browse social media platforms like Instagram I mainly see two things: luxury, high end makeup items such as Charlotte Tilbury, Chanel, Kat Von D and Fenty Beauty, or I see drugstore brands that are very popular such as MUA and Makeup Revolution. Sure, those brands are very much out there and I too love talking about them. But what about the not so well known brands? And how do you find out more about them in this massive world of beauty on the internet? I have been dying to talk to you about bargain brand Technic for a while now so I have decided to dedicate this blog post to it.

Miss Gorgeous London: I Am NOT Lipstick and Roll & Shine Makeup Applicators

Whilst attending the Olympia Beauty Show in London just over a month ago, I got the opportunity to get to know a few new brands and meet their representatives. One of the brands I got to learn more about is Miss Gorgeous London. I met the lovely Vivien who introduced me to the brand and explained that Miss Gorgeous London focuses on providing beauty accessories that make women feel gorgeous.

Get Ready for Christmas with Anthony John Salons Litchfield

About a month or so ago, I was invited by Anthony John Salons to visit their salon for an evening of hair inspiration in preparation for Christmas. The main idea: creating glam hairstyles that can easily be recreated at home. For those who don't know me, I pretty much always wear my hair the same way (up in a bun or ponytail) because my hair is so fine and flat that any volume I manage to add tends to last for all but two seconds. In this blog post I'm sharing some tips on how to make your volume last.

Olympia Beauty Show 2017 and The New Generation Beauty Influencer Awards

On Sunday 01 October I attended the Olympia Beauty Show in London. Olympia Beauty is the UK's largest trade event with over 500 professionals showing off their brands, products and services. It is also a good place to interact with like-minded people and eye up the competition. The event is free to attend when you register for tickets in advance, however it is trade only (with the exception of press tickets).

Luxury vs Drugstore - Fenty Beauty x Technic Cosmetics

Fenty beauty match stix trio flatlay

Probably the biggest hype of the year: the release of Rihanna's makeup line Fenty Beauty. I must admit, when I found out that Fenty Beauty launched at Harvey Nichols on 08 September, I placed an order straight away and for two reasons: because I was curious to find out what all the fuss was about, but also to see if people were buying these products because Rihanna has her name on it or if the makeup is actually worth the money.

How To Keep Your Skin Hydrated With Eness Cosmetics

Autumn is well on it's way and although I love the leaves turning all shades of red and brown, I am not a huge fan of the weather right now and neither is my skin. The cooler temperatures, rain and wind really make my skin suffer from dehydration. Time to change my skincare routine and through this blog post I would like to share some products with you that can help you with that.

Influenster x Max Factor: The First UK VoxBox*

I joined Influenster a few years ago after one of my friends from the US recommended it to me. She had been a blogger for years and I wasn't even thinking about starting a beauty blog back then. I'd always been interested in makeup though so I figured it would be good to sign up. For those of you not familiar with Influenster, it is a platform or community where people can discover and review products. Influenster also keeps you posted on the latest trends in all sorts of different categories such as makeup, skincare, health, food & drink etc.

HelloSkin: THE perfect skincare shop?

If you've followed me from the start or know me from outside the world of blogging, you may have heard me talk about skin issues. It's not like I have a skin condition as such, but I do have difficult skin. I am a true combination skin kind of girl - oily forehead/nose, dry cheeks, you know the deal! My cheeks tend to be really red (close to rosacea) and if I'm unlucky and the weather is sunny and warm, my skin is prone to spots too. All of this put together means that good skincare plays an important role in my life, and over the years I've tried various products but still find it hard to find exactly what I'm looking for.

The Dyson Supersonic: Worth it or just another hairdryer?

When you hear the word 'Dyson', the first thing that comes up in our heads usually tends to be a vacuum cleaner or one of those hand dryers you see in the toilets. That was definitely what I was thinking (I see those silver-grey hand dryers on a daily basis at my office). Did I know Dyson have since then created a hairdryer? I kind of did, but to be honest I never allowed myself to think about it too much as they sell at £300 a piece! That is a steep price to pay, especially as the average amount we spend on a hairdryer is just over £25. (To give you an idea: I bought my hairdryer for £4.99!)

My Primark Haul: Makeup Palettes - Review & Swatch

A few weeks ago, I came home with a massive haul from Primark. I absolutely love this shop, especially when you manage to find a little treasure in amongst heaps of their more basic stuff. I usually tend to shop for clothes and shoes at Primark, and over the last couple of years, I have really seen an increase in the quality of their items. More recently, I have kind of rediscovered their makeup range, and have been so impressed that I felt it was time to share some of this with you.

The Ordinary Colours Foundation: More Than Just A Hype?

I remember exactly when I first heard about The Ordinary.. well actually, read about The Ordinary, in Stylist Magazine a few months ago. Since that moment, I feel like I can't escape it! It's definitely the most talked about brand of 2017. Obviously my curiosity was peaked and I just had to see what the fuss was all about! I started off with the Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5, Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG and the High-Spreadability Fluid Primer, which I absolutely love. But as you have probably seen, The Ordinary has since then taken things a step further with the release of their foundations.

Molton Brown: New Collection Revealed, Limited Editions and Giveaway

Ever since I started Beauty on Review in July 2016, I've become more and more familiar with bath and shower brand Molton Brown. I kind of feel like a little bit of a brand rep, because I love it that much! For me, the best way to describe Molton Brown is: luxury, fragranced and original. The brand represents combinations of scents that are so exciting, it makes me want to go out and discover more. In this post, I just want to share some of the Molton Brown ranges I've come across recently, but I also have a sneak peek of their new line that is due to launch on the 11th of May!

Q&A Session with Hairdresser Luke Hersheson at Selfridges

Each year, Selfridges hosts the Beauty Stage Events, a week full of beauty masterclasses provided by makeup artists of some of the biggest brands in the beauty industry. This year was slightly special, with a one-off Q&A session with hairdresser Luke Hersheson, to celebrate the opening of the Hershesons Blow Dry Bar at Selfridges Birmingham.

My March Skincare favourites: The Ordinary & La Roche-Posay

I can't believe it's April already! Time for me to look back at March. Last month, my skin suffered from redness, with dry patches on my cheeks and an oily t-zone as well as my usual under-eye puffiness. The windy days here in Birmingham definitely didn't help with that, so I decided to give my skin a little bit of extra TLC.

L'Oréal Paris X Beauty and the Beast 🌹

I am so excited to share this weeks blog post with you, as it's all about Disney's Beauty and the Beast. As you may be aware, this Friday is the release date of the new Beauty and the Beast movie. No classic Disney picture this time, but the non-animated version starring the lovely Emma Watson as Belle. I've seen the trailer and it looks amazing. I can't wait to see it.

The Love Absolute with Molton Brown

On the 9th of February I attended an event leading up to Valentine's Day. I remember looking on the Bullring app and noticed 'The Love Absolute' by Molton Brown. I had vaguely heard of Molton Brown and was kind of aware that they did bath products but that was about it. As I had never tried any of their things, I figured it would be a good idea to go check it out.

How I Relax After Work with Essential Oils

This week I am writing about something slightly different than my normal beauty reviews. At the moment, I am going through a busy spell at work and at times, I really feel like there aren't enough hours in the day. This winter I have noticed just how much influence work can have on your mental health and that if we are not careful, it can easily lead to depression. I found that it is very important to listen to my body during those times because the last thing I want is to be sitting at home with a burnout!

Give yourself time to relax and do absolutely nothing

Hello February! Show Me Some Love ❤

It's officially February! To me that means the darkest month is behind us, no more reason to feel depressed, bring on the spring! Not only is February the shortest month of the year, it also comes with a lot of love, rose petals and everything red and pink! Yes, we all know that Valentine's Day is on its way.

January Blues? So What!

So we all know about the January blues. Christmas and NYE have gone, we are all pretty broke after the holidays and it's grey, dark and cold outside, well at least if you live in the UK like me! So what do you do next?

I decided to stick my head in the sand, pretend none of it exists and go spend some money on myself. This year I have decided to invest in me and the things that interest me, such as my blog. How better than to buy myself some more beauty items to review? :) Now normally this would result in a big beauty or makeup haul in which I spend way too much money, but unfortunately with buying makeup comes the need to find a place to store it all and ever since I started Beauty on Review (which was only 6 months ago!) I have started to run out of space! So instead of makeup and beauty products, I decided to look for some storage options.

Today I want to share my review of the L'Amour, Toujours L'Amour Eyeshadow Palette by NARS. I am probably one of the last people to review this because the palette came out quite a while ago, but today seemed like the right time to talk about it.

The L'Amour, Toujours L'Amour Eyeshadow Palette is an Autumn/Winter palette with 12 different shades of eye shadow ranging from a nude beige to bright blue and steel grey.

My 2016 Face Favourites

So January is often a month of looking back at the previous year...and realising that you have once again spent way too much money on beauty products! But we always find an excuse why we needed that one extra foundation or lipstick right?!

In this post I am looking back at my favourite beauty items for my face that I bought in 2016 and I am going to share five of them with you that I currently use.
